Plant Your Love and Let It Grow

Standing at the crossroads, trying to read the signs
To tell me which way I should go to find the answer,
And all the time I know,
Plant your love and let it grow.

Let it grow, let it grow,
Let it blossom, let it flow.
In the sun, the rain, the snow,
Love is lovely, let it grow.

Looking for a reason to check out of my mind,
Trying hard to get a friend that I can count on,
But there's nothing left to show,
Plant your love and let it grow.

Chorus

Time is getting shorter and there's much for you to do.
Only ask and you will get what you are needing,
The rest is up to you.
Plant your love and let it grow.

Chorus

If you're reading this, then you've been wrong! Cause you should be singing :-D Peaceful song!

The complete title should be "Lay across my big breasts babe"
So crude eh?
Yes, that's really part of the lyrics of a song that I 'heard' from the radio when I was in a car. Unfortunately I didn't hear the song completely since it's already almost ended when I got to the radio channel that aired the song. The song sounded light and soothing, and the male singer had a dreamy voice that made me almost forgot to type the lyrics into my mobile. All that stuck to my mind was that bizarre phrase *lol*.

How can it not be bizarre when a man sings "lay across my big breasts babe"?
I was not sure about the "babe" thing though, I couldn't guess it better, since I also heard he previously uttered lay lady lay.

I remembered again that song after browsing my mobile notes just some moments ago, and I became curious again on how strange that piece of lyrics sounds.
I put the whole phrase into Google search engine and it's a magic that the words took me to Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay. As I checked it out on youtube, I found out that it's not exactly the version that I heard, but it's indeed the song that I was looking for. Youtube then showed me the version that I wanted, it's from Magnet & Gemma Hayes.

Still feel amused with the fact that I was not the only one who has kinky ears *hehe*, I did further search about the misheard song of Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay, and here is the funniest one:
My husband has a huge chest. After we'd had an argument, I sat in my room playing that song over and over, thinking of that big chest. I was really disappointed when I finally read the lyrics. - Submitted by: Diana

Now, let me present the song and get your ears tested by listening to it. See if you have twisted ears too like mine, Diana and.......the Everly Brothers.

Proceed to check the lyrics here.

Kite Runner: There's a way to be good again

I am not sure how I ended up clicking the link of this movie when I was checking a site that gives access to watch free movie online. I didn't regret it, Kite Runner has a very touching story, I even wept. I attach the clip from the movie at the end of this post so that everyone who don't have access to the movie can have a glimpse of it, and also can listen to its lovely song.

Normally when I watch a horror movie and feel very scared, I will insert the images of film director, camera and so on into my head to neutralise my feeling or even kill the spine-chilling effect. This didn't work for Kite Runner, this movie still moved me to tears.

Kite runner is a story about two boys who befriend each other, but ruined by the cowardices of one of the boys. Hassan is a son of the servant in the house of Amir's father. They have their good times together when Afghanistan is still a decent place to live. Hassan is always like a bodyguard to Amir, he protects Amir from Assef who is also a son of another rich man. One day Hassan almost fires his slingshot at Assef's eye when Assef and his two friends threaten them on a quiet alley. The incident makes Assef even hates Hassan more.

Baba, Amir's father, loves Hasan and cares about him enough. On the day of Hasan's birthday, Baba lets Hassan to choose his own presents, and one of them is a kite.
Hassan is a prominent kite fighter, and he also is a kite runner. He knows where the kite will falls even without having to follow the kite.

The tragedy begins on the kite tournament day in Kabul. Hassan prepares everything to make sure Amir can win the tournament, and he uses the kite which is his birthday present. He directs Amir to beat all the other kites. The last cut kite is the great trophy of the tournament and everyone are trying to get it. Hassan runs to get the kite for Amir. "For you a thousand time over" says Hassan to Amir before he runs for the kite.

Unfortunately, Hassan falls into bad luck. He gets the trophy kite, but he runs across Assef and his abettors on a desolate back street. In the meantime, Amir who is worried because Hassan is still not back manages to find Hassan. He witnesses how Hassan refuses to hand out the kite to Assef because Hassan wants Amir to have it. Amir is too cowardly to act -I was very sad and mad seeing this scene, really a disturbing scene. Hassan, a ten years old or eleven years at most boy, must experiencing a painful disgrace in humanity. It's a real heartbreaking scene, the worst tragic to the boy's life.

Amir who feels very guilty of what happens to Hassan acts as if he doesn't know anything about it. Instead of comforting Hassan, Amir makes Hassan and Ali -Hassan's father to leave his house, and that's the last time Amir sees Hassan.

After Taliban takes over Afghanistan, Amir -who is now living in America- is forced to go back there by Rahim Khan -the best friend of Baba. Rahim Khan tells Amir "There is a way to be good again" as if he knew what happened to Hassan that day. The way is by saving Sohrab who is a son of Hassan. Rahim Khan shows Amir the unsent letter from Hassan, this is very touching. Hassan's heart is still pure, he still loves Amir and he hopes to see Amir again. At first Amir is still reluctant, until Rahim reveals him Baba's dark secret concerning Hassan's background.

The mission takes Amir to once again encounter his old enemy Assaf. It turns out Assaf takes Sohrab with him to be his dancing boy. He does to Sohrab what he did to Hassan :(((

For the first time Amir can get his dignity back and finds solace in his heart -although I think it's still too late- and just like the old times when Hassan stood for him, this time Sohrab also protects Amir by shooting an iron ball with his slingshot to Assaf eyes. They both manage to escape from Assaf and Afghanistan. Amir brings Sohrab to the USA with him. Amir and his wife then become Sohrab's parents. The film is closed by the scene of Amir runs the kite for Sohrab and recites Hassan words "for you a thousand times over".

I read the synopsis of the book, though the film is very good, I think the book is even better. I also sense the controversy before I read that this film raises protests especially in Afghanistan. It is about the scene of what Assaf did to Hassan on that deserted alley. A thorough reading about the film and its controversy is available in The Kite Runner wiki.

Positive Sounds

My Muxtape has been up for some time already, but I have not been able to complete it. There are currently eight songs up on ouli.muxtape.com, and all of them are the songs that build positive mood on me. So if I feel gloomy or alike, these songs are my medication :-D

Here they are:
1. Idan Raichel - Bo'ee
2. Bali Lounge - Angels Of The Island
3. Lamb - Softly
4. Neffa - Passione
5. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
6. Mark Sholtez - If You Were A Song
7. Paolo conte - Vieni via con me
8. Lamb - Gorecki

Of course, Bo'ee is there, I love that song very much, very uplifting.
Peccato che the Angel Of The Island is not as good as the one in the Bali Lounge CD version.

Idan Raichel..Boi..O Boi...

This is the third times in a day I mention about Idan Raichel on the net.
Idan Raichel is an Israeli musician whose songs currently hold spellbound on me.
I love mostly Bo'i, it's really mesmerising me to the bone.
The tunes, the language, especially that Amharic language...magical...and Idan Raichel...I'm unashamedly saying this, sei molto bellissimo.
I would love to see his concert but I think Idan Raichel will never be able to perform in my country. Sigh.

Here, the lyrics and video of Boi from Idan Raichel and friends.

Come, give me your hand and we will go
Don't ask me where
Don't ask me about happiness

Maybe it will come too
When it will come
it'll fall upon us like rain.

Come, let us embrace and go
Don't ask me when
Don't ask me about home
Don't ask me for time
Time does not wait, nor stop or remain.
*

Here's the translation of Amrahic language used in the song, the part that's uttered by a female member of Idan's group.

Do you remember back then, when you used to always bring me flowers
You'd entertain me, I'd entertain you,
You'd talk to me, I'd talk to you
We'd hold each other
We'd spend every day with joy

When evening came, we'd ask when a new day would begin
When we'd separate, I would feel sad
When we'd meet, I would feel immense joy
And now all that has passed and here we are now.

If You Were A Song

Thank God for my mobile phone, thank God for the internet, thank God for everyone who like to blog, otherwise I wouldn't know this very sweet song that I listened through CnJ radio when I was in the car yesterday. I typed some words from the song on my mobile phone while listening to that an unfamiliar but a very nice song, and voila, Google does its magic again.

That breezy romantic jazzy like song is "If you were a song" and it is sung by an Australian singer Mark Sholtez, not by a female singer like what I thought before.
Mark Sholtez seems don't make available or don't distribute the music video of this song on the internet. Youtube only has a video clip based on If you were a song music, made for VH1 India video promo that channel.

For now I can only listen If you were a song from the MP3 player on the Myspace site of Mark Sholtez, and try to sing a long a bit with its lyrics:

If you were a dream
I wonder how many hours I’d sleep
How hard it would be to wake up and how easy to fall

If you were a dream
There would be nothing else I’d want to see
No reason ever have opened my eyes at all

♥ If you were a song
Every word would be etched in my memory
Every note of the delicate melody would be there in my head
If you were a song
I would practice you night and day
Until perfectly I could play you by heart

If you were the sun
I couldn’t bear have a cloud between us
I’d search for a place where they say that the rain never falls

If you were the moon
Every night my eyes would be fixed on you
Never closed for one moment from dusk 'til the first light of dawn

...back to ♥ twice
For everyone who is currently fall into the great thing called Love ;-)

Song to Be Born

Would never known how hard it is to write song lyrics before helping a friend on his lyrics.
He's making a beautiful piece which is still raw, but it already has the power to control because I listened to the song many times and didn't get bored.

It's not my song and it's not about me, but still it makes me excited since he has trusted me to review his song and to allow me to make some suggestion. We are just online friend, I could just 'steal' his unnamed song, disappear from our circle, copy the song and claim it mine. I guess he perceives me as a genuine person and banks on my refined musical taste ;-P
It's an honour for me helping him writing on his lyrics, unfortunately English is not my first language. Song needs not only English but contented words, so I suggested him to read some Pablo Neruda's writings first instead.

I hope he can match the tunes with the perfect words, and I will have a new popstar or rockstar friend from........soon! See, I'm not genuine at all :-D

When My Heart Finds Christmas

Nothing is more special about Christmas than the Christmas itself, not the old Santa Claus, not the presents, not anything else because Christmas is already the biggest present given by God. I didn't have Christmas wish list but I did made some wishes when I attended a Christmas celebration of my Church on 20th December.

Some of my Italian friends whom I chat with on Christmas Eve were expecting Christmas dinners with their families but no such tradition in my family, and I chatted 'til around 1am -which means Christmas day already.

Got awakened by a massive noise thunder around 3am, I woke up saying God, and I don't know why I thought about doomsday directly. Then I told God something like ooh.....please God this is your birthday, and I got back to sleep :-D

Now, on officially Christmas day. Something did happen. One of my wish did come true and it means a lot to me. Thanks Jesus, I love that surprise. Still, nothing is more special than the Christmas itself.

And this is a wonderful song for the jolly holly season from Harry Connick, Jr I pray on Christmas

I like u Crazy

It all began with me wanting to embed song to my posting, and for that I need a simple slim player. Google search showed me some sites and at first I actually like very much the one from tutorial for flash mp3 player that's originally made for Wordpress but has been tweaked for Blogspot or Blogger. I don't know what is wrong, the player doesn't show up even though I think I have followed the instruction as it's written.

So I moved on to another suggested site and take a look A Little Flash mp3 Player. It's simpler and the player is even much smaller and can be inserted into a sentence. For example: I want to say I like u crazy, you crazy!

There's a shortcoming of this player though; the volume cannot be adjusted, and when someone click the words or the song name rather than the green triangle then it won't play the song instead it'll open a page of the player alone.

Btw about that song, I read comment tread of that little flash mp3 player and one of them mentioning another mp3 player called Streampad and there how I found the song and it ended up here cos I like it very much. Happy December to all.....first of December already.....Christmas is near and so the end of this year is too.

On Evil is Selling!!

My Mixaloo mix is really selling. I didn't believe it at first when I read a comment notification from Blogger saying:
CGHill ha lasciato un nuovo commento sul tuo post "Mixaloo":
Out of curiosity, I bought your Mixaloo. Interesting collection, and thanks.
This really makes my day somehow :-D
Although I don't get profit from Mixaloo since I'm outside the USA, I'm still happy!!
Happy to know that other person, especially a stranger, also is enjoying my creation........
I mean what I mix :-P
Thank you.

Mixaloo

Mixaloo invite finally arrived in my inbox last night. I make my mix this morning and here is my first Mixaloo. These songs probably don't match each other, since I just put all those songs that currently have been occupying my minds. No more saying....just listen.....to my current mood.....

On Evil

I've just started Emule-ing!

Bali Lounge

Before I bought this CD this afternoon, I actually had spotted it twice or thrice at some record shop.
I was thinking of buy it, but my dangling mind always stopped me from buying it, and I never even tried it.
Until some weeks ago, my only favourite radio station in Jakarta,
CnJ FM 9,99, aired a catchy unique tune. It was a jazz with some streaks of ethnical music, my guessed was Balinese gamelan. It really captured my friend's and my ears, and don't know why it made my self to envision back that white CD pack with tiny lable.

And my feeling was right; it was the music that I heard on CnJ radio.

It is Bali Lounge, a
noble project masterminded by Gita Wirjawan.

Almost all the tunes in this album are soothing to my ears, but I played "Angels of the Island", the track #2, almost 20 times today!
The lyrics used by that song #2 is in Aceh language, and the vocalist of this group is Aceh by origin. He sings very well. I like his unique voice.

One song that does not really suit my taste is "Apa." I like the melody, but I don't like the too melancholy words that it used. Should have been better if it used Balinese, Aceh or any other Indonesian ethnic languages which are beyond my grasp. It would make it sound more exotic, and I don't have to feel annoyed even though the lyric is actually weepy.

Anyhow, as a whole, it's worth to collect. Moreover, the CD box design is humble but pulling, probably wants to show that the contents are what matter. Indeed.

New Sensation

When I woke up this morning I had a funny feeling that I just saw in my dream JD wins the RockStar:INXS.

There's a superstitious belief amongst some people in my country that dream is the opposite of reality. I freaked out, and thought why I have to dream him winning. Bad luck!

Fortunately it was not an omen.
JD Fortune is the New Sensation!

Too bad Reality Show creates haters too, not only fans.
Mig and Marty each will be in their own success.
Why worry about them? Why throwing bad words over JD?

Mig Ayesa is great, but he's too well-mannered to rock.
Marty is great, but didn't blend well with INXS as seen at the finale show.

JD, he's great and dynamic.
He thinks fast and outside the box as mentioned by Andrew.

So for JD haters, like JD sang it well:
....You can't always get what you want.....
......You just might find.............
........You get what you need......

JD is What you need.

Now, I'm gonna miss
The House Band!
Finally, not
All About JD.
Enjoy the new sensation.
