Random Quote of Saturday: Friend

Just something freshening as I walk the internet today. A bit lighten up the withering flame of affinity inside myself...it gives me hope...
6 months ago i didn't know Amy.

5 months ago, i wanted to be Amy's friend.

4 months ago, Amy and i became best friends.

3 months ago, Amy stayed up to keep me from killing myself.

Ever since, Amy has been the reason I've kept going. Friends who care, no matter how long you have known them
Finally another update within less than a week, made me a proud blogger :-D

Just a Light Early January Chit Chat

Happy that I attended Church on the first day in January 2010. That will not automatically 'save' me, but as a believer, it recharges my faith, somehow.
I haven't had many things worth noticing at this very young 2010, most stuffs are still just the leftovers from 2009.

Talking about the leftover things, I forgot to write it down on my blog my favourite films throughout 2009. So here they are, the top three, starts from the most liked by me:

1. The Ugly Truth
I had started laughing at the beginning of this film. Very funny, and Gerard Butler is the sexiest man alive!I'm probably a bit biased, but the dance scene really possessed me and I even dreamed about it, but not with GB :-P This is a very light movie, you don't need to think at all cause there will be no time to think, you will not be able to restrain yourself to laugh.

2. This Is It
it changed my perception of the late Michael Jackson. He was indeed very passionate about the things that he loved, but I didn't know that he was that shy, and he was very humble too. I somehow believe that he was misunderstood by some people, but people who dislike him I'm sure also admit it that MJ was and is a great dancer and a genius in music and entertainment world. Glad that the producer of his last concert filmed the rehearsal sessions.

3. Avatar
A must see in 3D. Very cute story with great and cutting edge visual effects.

I must stop now, sleepy already, and oh, my best friend Leet will undergo a surgery tomorrow, please wish her a best luck and pray for her too.

Happy 2010 friends, may God gives us more power, more success and best luck. xoxo.

Two Wonderful Surprises in a week

First was when I received an email with a subject Paris-Jakarta. It turns out that I once posted at one website about my interest in practising French -I took the language course for almost 2 years, long long time ago. I'd totally forgotten about that website, need sometimes to understand that email, especially because the person asked if I want to meet for a drink and to practise my French before he ends his a month visit in Indonesia in two days. After a short inquiry, I contacted him and regretted that I couldn't meet him at the given time. However I indeed wanted to meet because he contacted me through this blog after found it from that website, that would make him as the first person I met in real from this blog. Glad that the next day, a day before his leaving, he asked me when it is possible to meet. After some clutters caused by some sms delayed problems -this is so annoying!!-, and with the help of his new Indonesian friend, all of us could finally meet in person at a resto. Oh and I also asked my friend to join because she's just back from Europe tour. I'm glad that I could meet him, it was sure a very nice friendly afternoon with him and the other guys. It's a unique experience I think cause I met a foreigner from this blog, who then introduced me to two other Jakarta people. Thanks Kuba for inviting me, thanks for thinking that Indonesia and the people are great :)) and thanks that you were not afraid even after those bombs :) Merci beaucoup.....Dziękuję.....Terima Kasih!!

Second surprise came some days after that, I received anonymous sms asking if the number is still mine. I replied it the next day when I was with a friend, stating that yes it's my number and asking who's the questioner.
"Remember pottery?" said the reply. My goodness...it was I think almost 5 years ago??
"That's definitely your guru" said my friend when I said that I didn't make new friend there cause I was there with my two other friends.
I was laughing a bit but still I replied "Of course I still remember" and stating his name there, but still thought it was a joke.
Surprise...surprise...and I broke up, it's really from him.
I told him that this is really surprising, and his reply cracked me up "I'm at an archaeology site, suddenly found your number ha ha ha". He is still like before, never far from his sense of humour. I asked him when will he have his next exhibition, but he said that it's all now organised by O House gallery, and he's now just indulging himself in playing helicopter and airplane, saltwater fish, and creating things. That is very him, to me and to my friends who also his pupils, he's the kind of person who knows how to enjoy life and to have fun all the time. He has the magic of Peter Pan, and I'm honoured to be remembered by someone like him.
Ain't that a wonderful week? :))

Gossiping Our Gigolo Friends

What a title :))
Well, a week ago I met a long time friend after having not seen each other for quite a long time. We met because Ira invited me and our other friend, Fedi, to watch a movie for free at JIFFEST. I probably will write the review of that movie on my next post.

This time I'm writing about the thing that came up after we spoke about our friends from the past. One of the news that I heard reminded me on what I heard when I met Noe -a friend from my senior highschool. Fedi told a surprising similar story, of course about a different person. However when I think over about those two persons who become the subjects of the stories, I found similarities between them.

So what kind of surprising news would you hear when you meet your old friends?
Me, for the second times I heard news about friend who has (I think the other one has stop) other profession as a.. ahem..gigolo!

Like most gossip, of course this is not something that matters to us, but still it's a guilty pleasure thing that brought us a lot of laugh during our gathering.

None of us was questioning our gigolo friend's morality when Fedi disclosed the news. Ira and I instead disbelieved that news, because in our eyes or maybe in our thought we remembered him as being an effeminate boy. We still can remember the way his speaking which was quite cissy, so I asked Fedi something like "are you sure he escorts women?."
Fedi said he once even ever revealed to her that he usually met the women in fitness centre and that he enjoyed the company of senior women.
Then Ira suddenly made gesture with hands on her neck and said "yeah I remember he has a disproportional big neck after he joined fitness."
We all laughed being reminded of that, but it's very true and that big neck thing had been circulated when we're still at the university, it's not because he was a popular guy, but maybe because of the sudden transformation of him becoming bulking up with muscle, especially bulking neck :))
We think he's too bunglesome to be a gigolo :-D -not that we've met one in person.

As I already mentioned, it's not the first time I heard about a friend become gigolo. About four years ago when I met Noe, I also disbelieved what he said about our friend who became a gigolo, but he said it's already known by many friends. I've known that friend since I was in the junior highschool. In those junior highschool time he only mingled with one boy and both of them were shunned by most of other friends. He was short, a bit sissy, and was sometimes dejected by other friends. But he changed a lot at the senior highschool, I knew it because we went to the same school again. He grew up fast, became quite tall with an athletic built body. He had a bigger circle of friends this time, but from what I could render from Noe's story, he wasn't really liked by many. He was always nice to me though, so I never had any problem with him.

The similarity between those friends is that they both once were reputed as sissy boys.
Other similarities are they both academically smart persons and come from well-off families.
Not long after I heard that thing from Noe, I learned another surprising thing about
that allegedly gigolo friend. I read about him on a big local newspaper, not about him being gigolo of course, but the news was talking about the marriage of a daughter of one prominent person, and the groom was him. Pretty happy 'ending' life for him :)), but still not sure about the other gigolo friend.

Song to Be Born

Would never known how hard it is to write song lyrics before helping a friend on his lyrics.
He's making a beautiful piece which is still raw, but it already has the power to control because I listened to the song many times and didn't get bored.

It's not my song and it's not about me, but still it makes me excited since he has trusted me to review his song and to allow me to make some suggestion. We are just online friend, I could just 'steal' his unnamed song, disappear from our circle, copy the song and claim it mine. I guess he perceives me as a genuine person and banks on my refined musical taste ;-P
It's an honour for me helping him writing on his lyrics, unfortunately English is not my first language. Song needs not only English but contented words, so I suggested him to read some Pablo Neruda's writings first instead.

I hope he can match the tunes with the perfect words, and I will have a new popstar or rockstar friend from........soon! See, I'm not genuine at all :-D

Dream Ingredient

When you dream of someone, that could mean that the person you dream of is thinking of you, said Ira.
I hadn't really been in touch with Leet in these last previous days and was thinking about that.

This morning I dreamt I answer a phone call in the stretch of morning when the light in my bedroom is still off. I can see myself smiling when I hear Leet's voice on the phone, and I can read what I'm thinking during the conversation, I am thinking how lucky that I don't ignore the phonecall. It looks like I miss her a lot.

When I woke up, I planned to call her soon.
But my soon was taking longer time, I was doing internet thing when my mobile's beeping, and it was from Leet.
I immediately told her about the dream.
Funny that she said she'd been thinking of calling me in the morning because she dreamt about that too?

Back to Ira's saying, of course that someone should be anyone who we are acquainted with in person.

Want to try? ;)

Killing Cancer

When I read an article on the net from New Scientist about Cheap, safe drug kills most cancers, I remember a friend.

Almost 2 years ago someone contacted me when I was online on Skype.
He got my blog address from my profile there and he also gave me his blog addy.
I already have some messenger friends and pen pals, but at that time I didn't have any blogger friend.
So, I could say that I was excited, especially because his blog was so affecting.
He has been suffering for years from some kind of cancer that made him paralyzed from waist down, and on his blog he stated that he is looking for anyone who has experienced a certain cancer treatment.

We spoke many times but not too many times and he also left some comments on my blog. Sometimes he reminded me that he just posted new photographs of blooming flowers.
He's one artistic soul, he could patiently wait for a flower to bloom and took the first shot of it. So his blog contains those beauties besides his postings about his life, all the trouble he got from his illness, the hurt, his daily struggles living on a wheelchair, and some saddening things. I don't think he was looking for others' sympathies by putting them all on his blog, those are just his reality. Even the shocking one. He's a strong soul.

So one day I linked his blog, I wanted his words to spread more. I told him about that when I saw him online on Skype, but I didn't know why he ignored me. He has never chat with or messaged me again since that day.
Too be honest I got annoyed, so I erased him from my skype and from my blog, because for me what's the point of keeping somebody's name who doesn't want to be friend with me.
I tried to think that maybe it's better, less worry for me. It's plainly fair that when you befriend someone sure you would feel worry if he has serious illness, right? I'm not talking about death, but the sufferings.

But, as a curious person, I sometimes take a peek on his blog.
Recently after along time had not vitised his blog, I just realised that he has stopped blogging since early 2006.
I'm thinking about him right now. I hope this new discovery about Cancer Killer could help someone that I still consider a friend. Stay strong. God bless you.

Google-alienated

"Hey, what did you do to my blog?"
It's Leet alterego, on the other side of the connection.
"Nothing. Why?"
"It doesn't appear on Google search! You must have done something"
"What will I tell my friends now?? I told them just to type Leet and they'd find me"
"Now their searches will lead to nothing"
"It's your fault"
etc...etc....
She went frantic!

And of course she suspected me. I know her password -she doesn't mind I play with her blog setting/ template/ layout, and though I might not have enough know how about html/template/css/blahblahlanguage, I'm not as illiterate as she is about this thing :-D

These days Leet alterego has really become Google-ized after reading The Google Story, and I think that what influenced her to join the Blogger world now.

I don't know what's happened with Leet's blog, it does not appear on Google search anymore. Poor her! And this is her S.O.S...
"Now, how am I gonna be famous?"

Saturday Flashback

Cafe Barbados KemangGG can't take beef cos he is Buddhist, and he doesn't like lamb.
LN suggested Barbados in Kemang, the food was good the last time she went there.
GG was a bit reluctant, for him very few cars around means a bad sign.
But it's also a bit early for the pack since Barbados is usually jammed at very late hours.
And we trusted LN's choice!

The room was indeed empty and dim; we chose the dining table in the sunken area.
Each of us chose the good looking dishes from the menu to order.
Started to tittle tattle about old days back in Manc land.
Then GG started to feel itchy bitchy on his arms.
Mosquitos raid!!

"They have mosquito here?" GG felt dreaming.
Inside a resto?
Not just one or two, a multitude of mosquito!
"Do you have mosquito repellent?" asked GG to a waiter
"Sorry we don't have it"

EN suggested us to move to another table where the light was less dim.
Our main course finally came.
Huge portion, but didn't look as handsome as in the pictures.
"The prawns are so small!" I was disappointed with my Mexican fried rice.
"Not prawns at all, but shrimps!" GG cleared it.

"I don't know there is Emping (traditional Indonesian crackers) in Mexico"
"Probably because they know you're not Mexican, so they serve Indonesian one instead"
It tasted quite like nasi goreng abang-abang, aka fried rice made by the hawkers, but cost 100 times more dearly.
First scoop, second scoop, third scoop and the nexts really needed some efforts for me to swallow.
"Just drop it", they knew I was struggling.

"What's this made of?" GG point 2 round things on his plate.
"Beef" replied the waiter
On the menu: Bali rice with seafood and chicken.
No beef written at all.
That almost commited GG another sin! :-P

LN gave up her burrito.
She ate not even half of it.
I gave up my fake Mexican fried rice.
GG seemed can eat anything, except for the beef.
EN didn't really complain but not satisfied either with his Chicken Hainan.

As the waiter returned the credit card to LN after making the payment,
LN gave him some ‘tips':
"Can we make suggestion for your resto improvement?"
"Could you tell the Chefs to improve their skills?"
It's her birthday and we also wanted to 'officially' welcome GG to Indonesia, of course we were disappointed.

Un Priceless Cadeau

The BD (cartoon strip?) clipping is priceless.....a myriad!
Isn't it something sacred?
Really....I'm moved!

Bouli...grazie mille e merci beaucoup et terima kasih banyak and big thanks!! pour tout

What do you call it?

Something that you really like,
but you know only a little thing about that something,
that although you don't particularly try to keep it in your head,
it actually sits there still, in your head.

You never really talk about it,
cos you don't really know how to describe that thing.
Then one day it comes to you.
No, it's not a dream comes true,
cos it's not really a dream though it's liked very dearly.

So, what do you call it?
Cos that's what I've just experienced...I finally have these song...

1.It's got to beee....eee...eee....perfect....

Espionage Game

Excerpted from my chat session

Date : 23/04/2005 Time : 23:44
EG: will do thanks! u know about the witch like receptionist caricature u had on ur blog, few days ago while on an errant nearby that hotel i went to have a peek, gosh sure was quite a resemblance of what u drew
Say: Lolll...really? you can recognise her?
Woww...I'm very happy to hear that!
EG: something like that but didn't get any closer to catch her name. if there are more wrinkles i'm sure must be the witch from snow white

---------- cut ----------

Date : 24/04/2005 Time : 0:11
EG: on the subject of double standard, maybe i can ......(Oo...la...la...c'est censored, parce que still on mission lah :-P)
Say: That will be great!!! Cos, not only me who suspected this double standard attitude, but it was the girl that I met (that interview me for her paper).
Say: I mean it was her that had that thought at first, and I agreed with her
EG: will let u know the outcome, say next week itself
EG: yeah, on with a mision ! hey! what are friends for !

EG is my good ICQ friend from Penang, Malaysia. I asked him sometime ago if he happens to pass near Hotel Berjaya, Georgetown to try to find that receptionist based on her caricature that I made. If he can spot her, that means I had successfully stored her image on my mind and manifested it into the drawing. I was surprised to know that he really did it and even will develop the mission more!
Haha....EG maybe more suitably stands for Espionage Game ;-)

A not so secret.....anymore

Got 'bored email' from Henc today. Achtung: I don't mean 'boring' email, but 'bored'. These two are individual, aren't they? I'm confused with English now.
Henc's just felt bored, so she asked me to write her a long email, which will I do when I have the mood :-P

Eh but I think part of her blahs is because she hasn't got email from her dear Al, so she turns to me :-P (lol...right Henc? I will spare Ar this secret! hehe).

She also asked me if I'm still in touch with Po, which is not. I wonder why doesn't she just visit him in his island? She's in Europe now and she just had vacation near his island. I have been waiting for that to happen. I want her to see him, I told her that a couple of times.
Maybe she's waiting for me to be there too, to monumentalise our finally 'threesome-ness'? :-P Good idea, I will write this to her later.

What would it happen if the three of us really meet?
For eavesdroppers, don’t ever dare to presume indecently about our threesome-ness okeh! :-P

But there won’t be just the 3 of us.....anymore.
